Hinduism and its Practices Introduction

Hinduism is the predominant religion of India. It is referred to as Sanatana Dharma, meaning “the eternal law” in Sanskrit. There are many types of Hinduism that accommodate a variety of complex views, which also include yogic traditions and a wide spectrum of “daily morality”. This is based on the belief in karma and societal norms that can be seen in such customs as Hindu marriage practices.

Practical Classical Yoga

Learn Yoga, the Eastern art of meditation and exercise to create harmony of spirit, mind and body for improved concentration, weight loss and general well being.

Pondicherry University collaborates with The International Center for Yoga Education and Research (ICYER) which is headed by Yogacharini Meenakshi Devi Bhavanani, who is an expert of yoga, exercise physiology and psychology is providing the students with an opportunity to learn the basics of yoga and its significance in modern life, to provide an awareness of the practice and prevention of psychosomatic disorders. Students will also get an opportunity in involving in research with the scientific and social aspects of yoga. You can take a few courses just for personal enrichment as a part of our study abroad program, while for a serious minded student, a two-semester long intensive training in yoga will provide with a competitive certification from ICYER. With either opportunity, after several months of training you may find yourself with better strength peace of mind, more balance and increasingly well focused with improved concentration and memory.
